A Message from John Valentine and the Heartbeat of Monroe Team

To our police officers, firefighters, volunteer firefighters, Public Works employees, Parks and Recreation staff, emergency responders, municipal employees, and every dedicated public servant who helps keep Monroe Township running - THANK YOU!

You are the backbone of Monroe Township. You are the people who answer the calls, maintain our roads, protect our neighborhoods, respond to emergencies, care for our public spaces, and show up every day to serve our residents.

It is time to post all jobs that are available in every department of municipal government, publicly, so our residents can apply and be a part of the plan.

Under a Valentine administration, all available township employment opportunities will be publicly advertised, consistent with applicable New Jersey Civil Service laws and regulations, including N.J.S.A. Title 11A and N.J.A.C. 4A:4-2.1, where applicable.

We see you. We appreciate you. We value the work you do. And will hire you.

GROWING MONROE MEANS GROWING OUR WORKFORCE

Monroe Township is changing. New housing developments are bringing more families, more vehicles, more infrastructure, and greater demands on our essential services.

Our public safety and municipal workforce must grow to meet those needs. Not shrink. Let us be clear. Any suggestion that a Valentine administration intends to eliminate municipal jobs, defund departments, or reduce essential services is simply untrue. Our commitment is to strengthen the workforce, support our employees, and ensure Monroe Township is prepared for continued growth.

Under a John Valentine administration, our commitment is clear:

  • POLICE DEPARTMENT: Expand police staffing to keep pace with our growing population, strengthen public safety, and ensure our officers have the personnel, training, equipment, and resources they need to protect our residents.
  • PUBLIC WORKS: Support and expand our Public Works workforce as new neighborhoods, roads, drainage systems, and infrastructure increase demands on township services. Our hardworking employees deserve adequate staffing, proper equipment, and fair treatment.
  • FIRE DEPARTMENT & VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS: Protect and strengthen our fire services, encourage additional volunteer recruitment, support firefighter retention, and prioritize the equipment, training, and resources needed to keep our firefighters and residents safe.
  • PARKS, RECREATION & MUNICIPAL SERVICES: As more families call Monroe home, we must ensure our parks, recreational facilities, and municipal departments have the staffing and resources necessary to maintain the quality of life our residents deserve.

LET'S SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Despite political rhetoric suggesting otherwise, our position has never been clearer.

WE WILL NOT DEFUND OUR POLICE.

WE WILL NOT DEFUND PUBLIC WORKS.

WE WILL NOT SHUT DOWN THE PFEIFER CENTER.

WE WILL NOT CLOSE OUR FIRE FACILITIES OR SHUT DOWN OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT.

WE WILL NOT DISMANTLE THE MUNICIPAL SERVICES OUR RESIDENTS DEPEND ON.

Our goal is to strengthen, support, and responsibly expand our workforce as Monroe Township continues to grow.

OPEN OPPORTUNITIES. FAIR HIRING. A GOVERNMENT THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE.

We also believe that opportunities for municipal employment should be transparent and accessible. Everyone should be able to apply for a job. Not just friends and family of the administration.

Under a Valentine administration, all available township employment opportunities will be publicly advertised, consistent with applicable New Jersey Civil Service laws and regulations, including N.J.S.A. Title 11A and N.J.A.C. 4A:4-2.1, where applicable.

We will make township job opportunities visible to the public, establish clear qualifications, and promote fair, competitive hiring practices.

Township employment should be based on qualifications, experience, merit, and the ability to serve our residents, not who someone knows or who they are related to.

As Monroe Township grows, there will be work to do, positions to fill, and opportunities for qualified people who want to make a difference.

A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM JOHN VALENTINE

"To every public servant in Monroe Township, I want you to know that you are appreciated, you are valued, and you are an important part of this community.

As Monroe grows, I want our departments to grow stronger with it. I want our police officers to have the backup they need, our Public Works employees to have the equipment and staffing they deserve, and our firefighters to have the resources to come home safely after every call.

I am not running for Mayor to take away jobs or dismantle departments. I am running to build a stronger Monroe Township, support the people who serve our residents, and make sure we are prepared for the future.

You take care of Monroe every day. It's time we make sure Monroe takes care of you."

Councilman John Valentine, Candidate for Mayor

OUR COMMITMENT IS TO THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE MONROE WORK.

To every employee, volunteer, first responder, and public servant - Thank you for all you do.

We look forward to building a future where our employees are respected, our departments are properly supported, and our growing community receives the services it deserves.

Stronger Departments. More Opportunities. Safer Neighborhoods. One Monroe.
